Why Kolkata Is the Hardest Indian City for Furniture
Kolkata combines high temperature with high year-round humidity — unlike Mumbai which has a dry season (November–February) during which furniture can recover. In Kolkata, the respite is shorter (December–February) and even in winter, relative humidity rarely drops below 55%. This sustained humidity cycling — without the dry-out period — causes wood joints to loosen, bonded leather to separate, and fabric to develop micro-mould faster than in any other major Indian city.
