HR foam and bonded foam are fundamentally different materials sold under similar-sounding names in India. HR (high-resilience) foam is manufactured as a single, chemically consistent pour with uniform cell structure throughout. It springs back immediately when compressed, maintains shape for 15-20 years, and does not absorb moisture differentially. Bonded foam is made by compressing polyurethane foam scraps with adhesive — it is significantly cheaper to produce. The bonded adhesive creates moisture absorption points that, in Indian humidity, cause internal condensation, odour development, and mould growth within 3-5 years.
