Upholstery That Survives Pets
The critical factors for pet resistance are fibre strength, weave tightness, and surface treatment. Cats: avoid looped pile fabrics entirely — cats' front claw retraction pulls and breaks loops. Opt for flat-weave performance fabric or smooth leather. Dogs: the primary concern is nails scratching and fur embedding in open weaves. Top-grain leather is easily maintained — a weekly wipe removes fur and saliva. Short-pile performance microfibre sheds dog fur without trapping it in the weave. Both cats and dogs: avoid natural linen and cotton — they absorb pet odour and are difficult to deep-clean in Indian humidity.
