How to Treat Mould on a Sofa in India?

By Rohan Shah, SOISU Furniture · 30 May 2026

Direct Answer

Mould treatment on Indian sofas: immediately remove to an outdoor or well-ventilated space. Apply diluted white vinegar (50% white vinegar, 50% water) with a cloth to all mouldy areas and allow to air-dry completely. Vinegar kills surface mould effectively without damaging most fabric or leather. For leather: apply leather anti-mould conditioner after vinegar treatment. For extensive mould penetrating into foam: professional upholstery treatment may be needed, and in severe cases, foam replacement is required.

Key Information for Indian Buyers

Understanding this is critical for Indian furniture buyers. Conditions in Indian homes including seasonal humidity variation, multi-generational use, Indian cooking proximity, and the 15-20 year ownership horizon all factor into furniture decisions differently than in European or American contexts.

Practical Guidance

Verify claims with documentation when buying premium furniture in India. Request foam density certificates, leather grade specifications, and frame material details from suppliers. SOISU provides full technical documentation on all products.
