When Should You Order Furniture After Getting Possession? The Honest Timeline

Most people think about furniture the week they get their keys. That's usually four to eight weeks too late — and at least six months too early to buy everything.

By Rohan Shah

You've been waiting for this moment — the builder has finally handed over the keys. The flat is yours. But it's also bare concrete, half-painted walls, and the faint smell of construction. And you suddenly realise you haven't thought about furniture at all.

The honest timeline

  • 8–12 weeks before possession — confirm sofa, dining and bed. Lead time is 21 working days at SOISU.
  • Possession week — receive the anchor furniture (sofa, bed, dining).
  • Month 2 — armchairs, side tables, coffee table.
  • Month 4–6 — accent pieces, rugs, art.
